Beef Curry

Ingredients

  • 1 kgbeef
  • 1 1/2 tbspvinegar
  • to tastesalt
  • 2onions, sliced
  • 1 1/2 tbspgarlic paste
  • 1 tbspginger paste
  • about 1 cupwater
  • to tastetamarind water
  • 2green chillies, slit
  • as neededpotatoes
  • for cookingoil

Masala (grind together)

  • 1 tspjeera (cumin)
  • 1 tspturmeric
  • 2 tspcoriander seeds
  • 1 tspblack peppercorns
  • 6cloves
  • 1 inchcinnamon

Instructions

  1. Apply salt and vinegar to the beef and keep aside for about 1/2 hour.
  2. Heat oil and fry the onions with the ginger and garlic pastes until the raw smell goes away.
  3. Add the ground masala and fry for 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Add the meat and about 1 cup of water; pressure cook for about 25 minutes.
  5. Once the cooker is open, add tamarind water and 2 slit green chillies.
  6. Add the potatoes and cook for a further 10 minutes.

Cookie uses a crockpot — exact pressure cooker setting may vary.
