Ingredients
- as neededfresh coconut, brown skin removed from behind
- a littlegreen chilli

- a 1/4 inch pieceginger
- 2 flakesgarlic
- a littlecurry leaves
- a very little (optional)tamarind
Bagar (tempering)
- a littlemustard seeds
- a littleurad dal
- 1dry spicy chilli
- a fewcurry leaves
- a littlehing (asafoetida)
Instructions
- Grind the fresh coconut, green chilli, salt, ginger, garlic, curry leaves, and a very little tamarind (if using) together to a chutney consistency.
- Heat a little oil and prepare the bagar: add mustard seeds, urad dal, the dry chilli, curry leaves and a little hing — let everything splutter.
- Pour the bagar over the chutney and mix.
