Chawli (Black-Eyed Peas Curry)

Ingredients

  • 100 gmschawli (black-eyed peas), soaked
  • 1 small piecedry coconut, roasted and ground
  • a littledalchini (cinnamon)
  • 1onion
  • a littleoil
  • 1 tbspbottle masala
  • to tastesalt
  • 1 1/2 cupwater
  • a littletamarind juice

Instructions

  1. Soak 100 gms of chawli (black-eyed peas).
  2. Roast 1 small piece of dry coconut and grind with a little dalchini.
  3. Cut one onion and bagar (sauté) in a little oil.
  4. Add 1 tbsp bottle masala, ground coconut, the chawli, and a little salt.
  5. Add 1 1/2 cup water and pressure cook for 5 to 6 minutes.
  6. Add a little tamarind juice.
