Ingredients
- 100 gtuvar dal
- 3 cupswater
- 1brinjal
- to tastepumpkin
- 1onion
- 1/2tomato
- to tastetamarind pulp
- to tastesalt
- a pinchhaldi (turmeric)
- a fewrye (mustard seeds)
- 1red chilli
- a fewcurry leaves
Masala (roast in 1 tbsp oil and grind)
- 2 tbspcoconut
- 1 tbspcoriander seed
- 3/4 tspjeera (cumin)
- 1/2methi (fenugreek)
- 3red chillies
- 1/2 tsphaldi (turmeric)
- 1 tbspoil
Instructions
- Boil the tuvar dal with 3 cups of water.
- Take the brinjal, pumpkin, onion and 1/2 tomato. Mix all the vegetables with the ground masala and cook.
- Add the boiled dal with a little haldi.
- Add tamarind pulp and salt.
- In a small pan, baghar (temper) raw rye, red chilli, and curry leaves; pour it into the sambar.
- Thicken and serve hot.
