Pickled Fowl (Chicken Pickle) to review

Ingredients

  • 1 kgchicken
  • to tasteoil
  • to tastedates
  • 1 tbspsugar
  • to tastesalt
  • 2 cupswater
  • 1 tbspvinegar
  • to tastespice powder
  • a littlecoarsely ground

Masala (grind)

  • 2 bigonions
  • 3 bigtomatoes
  • 4dates
  • 8red chillies
  • 1 tbspjeera (cumin)
  • 1/4 tsphaldi (turmeric)
  • 5 to 6 clovesgarlic
  • 1 pcginger
  • 1green chilli

Instructions

  1. Heat oil and baghar (sauté) the ground onion till brown.
  2. Add the ground masala and fry well, then add chopped tomatoes till they melt.
  3. Add dates and 1 tbsp of sugar. Fry well.
  4. Add chicken and salt and fry in the masala, then add 2 cups of water and cook on slow fire.
  5. When cooked, add 1 tbsp of vinegar and the coarsely ground spice powder.
